while the roses were in bloom - Artist Edition

Through minimalist photography and fragments of text, the work seeks a poetic language for the seemingly uneventful. In the Artist Edition, materials become part of that language. Translucent layers of hand-treated Japanese paper allow images, light and material to interact across the pages. During a period when days were spent on the sofa and nights in bed, the summer light, the shadows moving across the wall and the colours that came and went throughout the day became a way of tracing time. While summer unfolded in full colour outside, the world indoors was filtered through sheer curtains. The interior is held in a pocket formed within the folds of a delicate origami construction made from triple-layered Yanpi Gampi paper. The loose colophon is folded and held within the front flap. A twisted silk thread attached to the tip of the flap suggests a lifeline through creativity and making. Each of the five unique copies is a distinct material interpretation of the experience from which the work emerged. This listing presents the Artist Edition. The work also exists as a Limited Edition of 60 numbered and signed copies, including 10 HC copies.
