In the Spring of 2023, The Gaia Foundation commissioned photographer Andy Pilsbury to visit and document the people, landscapes, built heritage and wildlife of Penpont as part of the We Feed the UK photographic exhibition, a major storytelling campaign pairing photographers and poets with the UK’s best custodians of soil, sea and seed. This book is the culmination of the flourishing artistic partnership that has evolved from that commission. Designed by Chris Neophytou from Out of Place Books, and hand-made by Andy, the book and its accompanying materials now sit in Penpont’s Land Library, where it will be read and used by young people and the public as one of many ways to connect with nature in this special place. This is the trade edition of Aelwyd, produced on the occasion of the We Feed the UK photographic exhibition and available here in very limited numbers.
