Based on memories of other people's stories, anecdotes and moments shared with her while living and studying in the United States in the early 2000s, Ahn Jun created this series of photo-like images while recovering from major surgery. Confined to bed and facing her own mortality, the artist used AI image generators - itself a form of dream-like imagination - to materialise the things and situations she had imagined in her mind. “I pondered: had I, in my early twenties, chosen to pack a bag and embark on a journey instead of completing exams or part-time jobs, might I have captured such photographs? Hence these landscapes represent a nostalgia for something that I have never had. Confined to bed during recovery, I ceaselessly painted worlds with words in my mind, wondering how long this exercise in imagination would persist.” ― from the artist’s afterword
