From 1678 to 1884, France insisted that the Prime Meridian ran through Paris, not Greenwich. I walked across the city along this imaginary north-south line, surveying the different communities and environments. The images in this book depict a section of the Paris Meridian from south of the city in Bressonvillers to the Paris Observatory. There are 4 maps and a text describing some key inventions and discoveries relating to the Meridian and the Observatory.
