Blitz Club Blitz Kids

Blitz Club Blitz Kids features a series of photographs taken in 1980 by photographer Homer Sykes at the legendary Covent Garden London nightclub, the Blitz Club, which was to play a pivotal role in the birth of the New Romantic movement. By 1980 the Blitz had moved from Soho to a wine bar in Covent Garden. Steve Strange – frontman of the band Visage and Rusty Eagan a DJ founded the Tuesday “Bowie Nights”. Steve operated a very strict dress code, and allowed in only the “strange and wonderful people” — to the point of turning away Mick Jagger. Located between St Martins and Central School of Art, the Blitz quickly became famous, attracting art and fashion students who wanted to experiment and move beyond a post punk fashion subculture and explore new forms of glam fashion, exaggerated make up, flamboyant clothing and gender fluid style and dress. The Blitz became a true style laboratory where trends emerged that would later shape the style and fashion industry for generations, it was a unique time, symbolising a moment when music, fashion, and creativity came together. 32 pages, format 20 x 26 cm softcover, stapled September 2025 I ISBN : 978-2-490140-64-0 Second edition
