RUST Publishing was founded on the belief of collectively aiming for the better of the photographic medium. Our practice therefore heavily emphasizes the visual language of an ever-changing postmodern society. Whilst constantly discussing the limitations of the medium, we strive to create a distinct experience with every publication we pursue. All in faith of achieving more together, the collective's goal is to promote niche publishing forms — zines, art books and photographic prints in both publishing and exhibition contexts. Today RUST consists of Jakub Szachnowski (b. 1998 in Poland), Heiner L. Beisert (b. 1999 in Germany), Daria Izworska (b. 1995 in Poland), Katarzyna Szachnowska (b. 1999 in Poland) and Dominik Wojciechowski (b. 1993 in Poland). We identify as part of an emerging generation of photographers based between Poland and eastern Germany, focussed on the environmental approach to the documentary dimension of contemporary art.
