Dover is a city shaped by the UK’s relationship with continental Europe. Its residents voted to leave the European Union. In the event of a no deal Brexit, Dover will be the focus of transport delays and interruptions to supplies indicated in Operation Yellowhammer, the UK government’s outline of potential disruptions resulting from a sudden departure from the European Union. Edmund Clark was born in Dover. He has walked the white cliffs every year of his life but has never spent much time in the city itself. The divisions and tensions created by the Brexit debate moved him to walk its streets.
