Perennial

Perennial is an artist book, edition of 5, that was made on the occasion of Jeff Smudde's MFA thesis exhibition at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2023. This work focuses on visualizing a perpetual state of being in-between places, perhaps to render distance infinite yet negligible. Smudde photographed across the country, primarily in the Northeast, Midwest, and Southwest for this work, spanning 2021 to 2023, using digital and analog color photography. The artist book contains 61 color plates, an afterword by the artist, and an essay by Professor Walker Downey.
